☕ Our Origin Story: From Inspiration to Infusion

ree

Every great brew begins with a spark—a moment that stirs the soul and awakens the senses. For us, that moment happened unexpectedly during a simple coffee stop in San Diego. What followed was a journey steeped in curiosity, courage, and community.

Pittador Brews was born not just out of a love for tea and coffee, but out of a deeper desire to create something meaningful—something that connects people, uplifts culture, and honors tradition with every cup.

🫖 The Story of Pittador Brews: Brewing Dreams Into Reality

What started as a backyard experiment turned into a movement powered by resilience, family, and a shared dream. From pop-ups and late nights to community events and business competitions, we’ve poured our hearts into every step of the way.

Here’s how Pittador Brews came to life—one roast, one story, and one bold decision at a time.

It all started with a hot summer stroll in San Diego. On a whim, we wandered into Ryan Bros. Coffee—our first encounter with cold brew on nitro taps. What we thought would be a one-time visit quickly turned into a daily ritual. For five days straight, we became loyal patrons, sipping, savoring, and dreaming. Each pour reminded us of a craft brewery, but with coffee.

As we journeyed home, a simple question sparked a revelation: "Does Sacramento have anything like this?" Our search came up empty, but our hearts were full—with excitement, ambition, and an idea we couldn't shake.

Back in Sacramento, we shared our discovery with family and friends. Their reactions were encouraging but cautious—after all, we had steady jobs. But what they didn’t know was that we had always craved something more. We wanted freedom, ownership, and a way to brew more than just coffee—we wanted to brew community. Then, the world paused.

During the pandemic, we found ourselves with something invaluable: time. A conversation with a Microsoft engineer who roasted his own beans led us to our first popcorn popper and a shipment of raw coffee beans from Sweet Maria’s. Our backyard became our experimental lab—full of swirling chaff, wild aromas, and boundless enthusiasm. We roasted. We shared. People loved it.

But there was a catch—our little popper couldn’t deliver the rich, dark roasts people craved. That’s when we leveled up and invested in a used Behmor 1600+. It wasn’t just about better coffee—it was about better dreams. Liliette captured our journey on social media, and we started building a tribe of curious taste-testers and believers.

Then came a pivotal phone call from Hina and Gerd—friends, former employers, and our unexpected guardian angels. They asked us one simple question: “What’s your vision?” We shared our dreams of opening a coffee shop—and one day, a meadery. Hina said, "Add tea.

You’re great at tea. Let’s do this together." She became our silent investor, mentor, and first true believer. Just like that, Pittador Brews was born.

☕ From Backyard Beans to Website Dreams

We laid the foundation with tools we already had: a mailing list of 700+ loyal fans, permits, certifications, and a spark that couldn’t be extinguished. Our website launched on October 31, 2020—and the response blew us away.

As demand surged, we brought in Liliette’s sisters—Nanette and Carrie—to help with marketing, design, and operations. When we finally invested in our first commercial roaster, the Kaldi New Wide 400g, we knew we were no longer just dabbling. We were in business.

🎪 The Pop-Up Hustle

Then came winter—and a sales slump. But instead of backing down, we leaned in. We discovered a pop-up event in midtown and jumped in headfirst. Rain, wind, loading and unloading in the cold... it didn’t matter. We made our vendor fee and learned our most valuable lesson yet: visibility is everything.

From there, our pop-up game exploded. Between 2021–2023, we became a staple at Foodieland, catered events for Elk Grove School District and Consumnes River College, and introduced espresso drinks, packaged products, and full event setups. Wherever there was a farmers market, Pittador Brews was there.

We were growing fast—so fast, that we sometimes had to turn down events. We bought more equipment, and a bigger vehicle, and leaned on our amazing family and friends to keep up with demand. But the cracks began to show. Burnout was real, and so were the growing pains.

🏡 Finding Our Community at Oak Park

2022 brought clarity. We needed consistency. Customers were constantly asking: “Where are you today?” “Do you have a storefront?” So, we planted roots at the Oak Park Farmers Market. Unlike the saturated Midtown scene, Oak Park gave us space to breathe, connect, and grow. And grow we did.

The community embraced us. Organizers made sure we always had our same spot. If we weren’t there, people noticed. We became a fixture—rain or shine.

🛠️ Pivots, Prices, and the Power of Resilience

By 2024, the world had changed again. Markets were closing, ingredients were pricier, and we had to raise our prices. But instead of retreating, we pivoted. Catering became our saving grace—prepaid, efficient, and perfectly aligned with our commitment to quality.

Then came the opportunity of a lifetime: The California State Fair.

We weren’t allowed to sell beverages, but we could sample them and sell packages. We took a leap of faith. One day turned into five. Our booth became the go-to spot for iced teas, cold brews, and big smiles. That strategy—engaging all five senses—became our secret weapon.

🚀 Turning the Dream into Brick and Mortar

But we weren’t done. Relying solely on online sales in an era of inflation wasn’t sustainable. We needed a real space. The hunt began—and that’s when fate introduced us to Nyieces at

Gold Business Center.

He wasn’t just a strategist—he was a catalyst. Within weeks, we were enrolled in programs, refining our business model, upgrading our website, and—miraculously—submitting an application to Calling All Dreamers, a $20,000 business grant competition.

We submitted our pitch at 11:59 PM. A week later, we were semi-finalists.

🎤 Pitching With Heart, Building With Soul

Round after round, we showed up. Workshops, business plans, projections—things that once intimidated us now became our tools for growth. We were exhausted but determined. Every late night and long shift became a brick in the foundation we were building. Eventually, we made the top 5.

We took a bold step and secured a lease in the space we’d dreamed about for two years: the Heywood Building in Old Sacramento. We included it in our final pitch deck. We visualized every moment. And when it was time to present to the DSP Board, we ditched the script and spoke from the heart. Two weeks later, we got the call. We won first place.
